Our Story - From Underwriter to Independent Agency Owner
Building a Trusted Michigan Insurance Agency That Lasts
Our founder, Anthony (Tony) Coppolino, began his insurance career in 1980 as an underwriter at the TransAmerica Insurance Company in Battle Creek, Michigan. With a sharp eye for risk assessment and a passion for helping people, Tony quickly advanced within the industry. The Michigan Mutual Insurance Company soon sought him out for a branch manager position, recognizing his expertise and leadership ability.
Returning to his hometown of Saginaw, Tony worked as an insurance agent for Abbe Insurance Company, where he honed his customer service skills and learned the true value of building lasting relationships. After nine years of extensive experience in underwriting, management, and sales, Tony recognized a critical gap in the Michigan insurance market: families across the Great Lakes Bay Region and the entire state of Michigan needed an independent insurance agent who would put their interests first—not the insurance company’s bottom line.
On March 3, 1989, Tony founded the Coppolino Insurance Agency in Saginaw, Michigan with a simple mission: provide tailored insurance solutions and treat every client with the respect and care they deserve. Over 35 years later, that mission hasn’t changed. What started as one man’s commitment to his Saginaw neighbors has grown into a multigenerational family business protecting thousands of Michigan residents and businesses across the state.
